General Business English Resources

BBC World Service - English Learning: Open for Business--Materials for students and teachers to supplement BBC broadcasts.  "The Open For Business web site is based on a series of radio programmes broadcast by the BBC World Service... It combines interviews with successful African entrepreneurs and experts with a drama about Teresa, a young woman setting up her own business. Each unit is accompanied by a fact sheet which explains difficult business language in English and gives further business information."   Intermediate and above.

Business Correspondence--Advice for ESL learners from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Dictionary of Business-Related Terms and Idioms--A sample dictionary of business-related terms and idioms, created for native speakers.  This source provides sample sentences from business-related publications.

Business Help Page--Ruth Vilmi's great page of business links.

Journals & Magazines: Select@BRINT--This great resource provides links to hundreds of business magazines and journals.

WebEc--WWW Resources in Economics--A native speaker resource with lots of links to economics-related web sites.

Harvard Business School: Baker Library--HSB's homepage.  Lots of information resources of interest to business students.  Unfortunately, you need to be an alumni to access certain services.   Nevertheless, it's worth a visit.

UC Berkeley: Thomas J. Long Business & Economics Library--Well, I couldn't put Harvard on this page and neglect my own alma mater. (I majored in English, though, not business.) You'll find some good business resources here, including on-line tutorials for accessing some serious business information.  Go Bears!

Stanford GSB: Jackson Library--Okay, so long as we're at it, I may as well be fair to my brother.  (He got his MBA from this illustrious institution.)  Once again, adequate business resources and information.
